Procedure done in Italy

The procedure carried out in Italy involves taking up residence in Italy and directly applying for nationality in a municipality. It is necessary to live in the country, for confirmation and validation of information. The fact that there are no long queues at the responsible bodies guarantees a much shorter period compared to the process carried out in Brazil.

Brazil is the country with the largest number of descendants outside of Italy, mainly in the following states: São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and Espirito Santo.

The apex of the migratory flow occurred between the years 1880 and 1930. At that time, Italy was undergoing socioeconomic transformations that mainly affected land ownership. Thousands of Italians began to immigrate to various regions of the Americas. The high population growth, along with the accelerated industrialization process, directly affected job opportunities in that continent.

It is estimated that, between 1870 and 1970, around 28 million Italians emigrated (approximately half of Italy's population).

From the lack of work and food, the Italians fled and with very little luggage faced dozens of days of travel. Brazilian policies encouraged the arrival of Europeans with offers of cheap land and jobs in the fields.

And the Italians brought with them delicious recipes that definitely conquered the Brazilian palate. The most famous being Pizza, which the taste spread across the country and today we are one of the biggest consumers in the world.
